Analysis

Analysis

We examine the economic viability of planned or existing objects.

Investments in the medical sector require detailed knowledge of the healthcare system of a country, the competitive situation, as well as the general economic, political, legal, social and cultural parameters.

For analyses of the economic viability of planned or existing objects we draw on the contacts of our shareholders. Apart from the worldwide Hellmann network we utilize the cooperation of the UKE departments with partners in more than 60 countries. We stay in contact with former foreign guest physicians, scientists, students and patients, and closely collaborate with business and political representatives. Additionally, we present our services at international fairs, conventions and other professional events.

In addition to feasibility studies for new healthcare projects we also carry out object analyses according to the "Due Diligence" principle prior to financial investments in already existing facilities: Such an examination completed with the necessary diligence provides possible investors with a stable basis for their decision.

Planning

Planning

We develop and optimize business concepts for new projects and facilities which require reorganization.

An expertly elaborated operational concept is of critical importance for the new development of a healthcare facility. It provides the basis for optimally adapting the space allocation plan and the infrastructure to the work processes.

An optimized business concept can further help to increase productivity, better utilize resources, decrease costs, increase performance quality and the satisfaction of patients and employees, as well as improve profitability and the competitive position of already existing objects.

Our experts…

  • develop and reorganize medical workflows, for example in the surgery area and the wards.
  • develop logistics solutions for the transport of patients, mail and specimens, as well as the supply of food, pharmaceuticals, consumable supplies, linens, and other goods.
  • assist in the introduction of quality management and lend support during the process of certification or accreditation. We furthermore offer help for the establishment of additional instruments for quality optimization.
Construction management

Construction management

We support and supervise the work for new buildings, expansions, and building alterations.

As procurator of the building owner, the UCM takes care of the project control and supervision both in the new development of healthcare facilities and in the reorganization of existing buildings - from the first design drafts and tender preparation to the hand-over of keys and billing. This ensures that all scheduling, cost and quality requirements are adhered to.

Our experts ensure a smooth implementation of the project by coordinating the requirements of the investors, future users, authorities, architects, building contractors and suppliers. They synchronize the building plans with the company organization and guide the workflows of the various involved parties.

Proper execution of the work is ensured through regular examinations of the construction site. Meticulous inspection of services as well as supervision for the elimination of possible defects are also a part of our service catalog. Our experts furthermore take care of the cost controlling and the overall commercial execution.

Fortbildung

Advanced education

Our employees train their foreign colleagues in Germany or temporarily work on site.

No matter how nice the hospital and how up-to-date the equipment - without an adequate number of qualified professionals, medical care on a German university level is not possible. This applies to doctors and therapists, nurses and employees in laboratories and examination areas, as well as to administrative and technical staff.

The renowned departments of the UKE offer excellent advanced training opportunities for foreign doctors. For decades the UKE has been participating in exchange programs with numerous clinics worldwide. The length of stay in Hamburg can range from just a few days to several years. The guest students and guest doctors are assisted by the UKE International Office, which also takes care of the necessary formalities with the German authorities prior to the visit.

If required, employees of our shareholders will train their colleagues directly at the respective healthcare facility or temporarily work in the respective positions on site.

Betriebsleitung

Management

We supply the medical and/or commercial executive personnel.

Hospital management is a highly complex task. Operating a healthcare facility in a cost-effective manner requires a medical and commercial management team which is not only experienced and possesses leadership qualities, but which is also well informed regarding the local legal, political, economic, social and cultural conditions.

The UCM supplies the management for new projects as well as facilities which require reorganization.

Our shareholders also have a great deal of experience in founding and managing subsidiaries - in medical departments and laboratories as well as in the tertiary sector (property management, logistics, building and textile cleaning services, catering).

Our experts plan the strategic concentration of facilities, establish structures for the fulfillment of objectives, and supervise the implementation of necessary measures. This includes obtaining and efficiently utilizing personnel, financial, material and ideational resources.
